I figured that this was going to happen. I have no idea where to start. I really don't. I keep looking at the list of all my models and thinking, "Why didn't I just stick with one army? Why didn't I buy just a few models, paint them, and then buy some more?" Now my hoarde seems like such a daunting task.
I think what I'm going to do is break them up into game-playable 500 point blocks. This way I can possibly start playing early. I will start out with HQ/Hero and two Troop choices, so that it will indeed be the foundation of my future armies. The Tomb Kings are going to be a special army, so I will save their painting and discussion for a later post.
Hopefully by breaking the mass of pewter and plastic into 500 point blocks I will feel like I'm working toward a specific goal--something that should make the work a bit more tolerable.
Now the problem lies in picking which army to start out with first: Eldar, Skaven, or Witch Hunters?
Eldar. It will be the Eldar.
My soon-to-be Ulthwe' Strike force already has a painted HQ (Avatar), Troop (Storm Squad), Elite (Howling Banshees), and Heavy (D-Cannon). By adding a Guardian Defender Squad with Starcannon, I will have a legal, playable army...albiet a small one. But with the Defenders painted, I will be able to move on to another army and kick out another 500 points of painted pewter.
Ok. Sounds good to me. I now have a plan of action. Good pep talk, Jordan.
