The Sands of Time

In preparation of my soon-to-be Tomb King army, I am going to attempt to construct a dilapidated pyramid as a scenery piece. I purchased a solid insulation panel--not sure exactly what it is called--from Brown Lumber, a family business that I just so happen to be friends with...the owners... of the business. Wow, that's confusing to type out. Anyhoo, I got it for super cheap. Also got a couple 12" x 12" pieces of hardboard to mount the pyramid (or pyramids??) on.

I found a picture of a good pyramid on the net, then I sketched it out in my nifty little Wargame diary thingy that Allie got me for Christmas. I then figured out the dimensions needed for the 5-tiered pryamid, and drew out the layers on the insulation. The next steps will consist of me cutting out the pieces and then assembling the pyramid (however, I may check and see if I need to double up on each layer to make the pyramid taller). I'm going to try and score some "brickwork" into the sides of the layers, even though I'm afraid it would all be covered up when I spray it with the textured spray paint. I will also scrape away the corners and edges, roughing it all up to make it look eroded. I'll use the shavings to create piles of sand that have accumulated on the lips of the layers.

Overall, I'm pretty excited to be doing something I've never done before: terrain. Yes, it is a freakin' simple project. But hey, it'll be fun. Even if it turns into a big pile of crap... hey, it's sand! Who cares? I can always say it is a malformed sand dune.
